Free-to-air EPL broadcast - SingTel holds the key, says MediaCorp
I REFER to last Saturday's Forum Online letter by Mr Thomas Lee, 'Revive weekly EPL highlights show on free-to-air TV'.
Whether English Premier League (EPL) matches are shown in entirety or as highlights on MediaCorp TV's platforms is dependent on rights holder SingTel's decision to sublicense the content. Also, such an arrangement will need to be commercially viable and fit viewership objectives. Similarly, due to the EPL broadcast contractual limitations, we are currently unable to show actual footage of the matches during our news coverage.
Channel 5 is always willing to explore suitable sporting programmes for our broadcast - as long as such content meets the viewing expectations of our audience and is commercially viable.
