Dr Lim Hock Siew was arrested in 1963 Operation Cold Store and jailed for nearly 20 years.

Another true patriot's life was ruined by old scum:

I'm sure SBFers would welcome Dr Lim to enter our forum and post his invaluable comments and illuminate and educate the younger gen of voters with Singapore's political past in which he has played such a monumental part.

There will be NO proper ending of famiLEE LEEgime WITHOUT these old days' foes of LKy re-appearing back in politics to settle old businesses with the Old Dog Thief. The day is near around the corner. I ask Singaporeans to fully back these pioneers to make their come back. I they want to be nominated for Tanjong Pagar GRC, all the more the best and most welcomed. Young activists students etc pse volunteer to assist their campaigns. This will be the most proper way to sent Old Dog Thief LKy to where he is due to be. ;)

hello political CLOWN , who you think you are? you ask this, you ask that, fuck you! understand?

Zwell I am sure with every talented Singaporean.
The system will choose to purge the talents .
But whatever you tried to bury with time .

It will come back to you in time .
With the new modern society , all eyes and ears are ever present .
PAP you cannot conduct clandestine actions without expecting backlash from public .

Texas Chainsaw Massacre... Singapore style!

No lah!, we are more genteel, we meet you at the cul de sac, knuckle dust you; or we will FIX you or send the greater than GOD, isd to ask you to 'lim kopi'.

Texas Chainsaw...that is violent!:D

I am not sure if it was family pressure or his poor health that stopped him from publishing his memoirs. It would have been illuminating and educational. Hock Siew's faction have yet to tell their full story. This particular faction refused to accept job, money etc.

I was truly hoping to see both Siew Choh and Hock Siew. It was not to be. Siew Choh's family decided not to publish his written memoirs. After Chin Siong, these 2 steps plus Poh Soo Kai were the main chaps.

Maybe a voice greater than thou, spoke to them?

"When I find myself in trouble, father hairy come at me,
speaking words of wisdom, limp kopi.
And in my hour of darkness he is standing right in front of me,
speaking words of wisdom, lim kopi.

"Lim kopi, lim kopi, lim kopi.
Whisper words of wisdom,lim kopi"
( adapted from The Beatles " Let It Be")

Maybe that spoke to them...the demigod....:D

Fifth column, 12th -16th paragraph

Dr Lim's wife Beatrice Chen, who is a nephrologist or kidney specialist, helps to treat her husband. She declines to be interviewed as she shuns publicity.

They met in 1958 when they were working together at the Singapore General Hospital, and married in 1961.

Dr Lim was detained two years later. For the next 15 years, they each other for half an hour each week, separated by a glass panel, and spoke by telephone.

"The fact that we can see each other is a relief," he says. "Our common struggle was a unifying force. We understood each other. She kept on encouraging me, giving me moral support....it was very hard for her. She's a great woman."

The couple have one son, who is now working in the National University of Singapore. "He was five months old when I was arrested. When I came out, my wife was in menopause. I missed the joy of bringing up my own son."

Some of the saddest and most bitter of words spoken. It speaks volumes of the cruelty that's make up the character of Lee Kuan Yew in dealing with his enemies as well as those who refuse to capitulate to his self perceived sense of righteousness.

What moral right does it give a man to deprive another man of his freedom for nearly 20 years, or 22 years in Chia Thye Poh's case for that matter when as a dictator, he had already entrenched his hegemony over Singapore.

I was young once. Although it was not to be, I had once dreamt of a life with the woman I had loved dearly. To live out the joy of a youthful union with all it's accompanying fulfillment as only the young can experience. But to have it taken away unjustifiably in it's prime?

I pray that Dr Lim will never give Lee Kuan Yew the satisfaction by way of any form of reconciliation with the despot. It will serve only to whitewash the crimes against justice perpetrated. Those shameful historical episodes must be kept for prosperity as part of Lee Kuan Yew's legacy in Singapore for future generations to know and be warned of the perils of allowing dictatorial governance to exist..

Incidently the wife too was arrested and detained but for a shorter period.

Editing the funk in my post. Still reeling from all the Chinese New Year greetings I have to make.

Spot on. What human being would detain another beyond what is just and sufficient to remove the threat to himself? Old Fart has a huge ego to satisfy and that has made him into a monster. He is more evil and dangerous than 1000 Dr Lim Hock Siews.

Befriend a thousand books, and have the spine to stand by your beliefs ~ Dr Lim Hock Siew.

The life of a person who sacrifices himself for his fellowmen is as weighty as Mt Taishan, but the life of a person
who lives only for himself is as light as a bird's feather ~ Dr Lim Hock Siew's tribute to the late Lim Chin Siong.

Romania revisited...

That someone refused to go away and was dealt with. In the end people are the bosses.
