A BRITON has been nabbed in Thailand for allegedly organising 'swinging' parties.
These parties refer to the ones during which couples swap sexual partners.
An AFP report said the man, Christian Arthur Richards, 54, was arrested early yesterday.
He was caught along with six Thais and 16 foreigners including US, French, Indian and Chinese citizens at one of the parties in a Bangkok hotel.
The raid took place at about 12.15am at the two-star Elizabeth Hotel on Praditpat Road in Samsen district, said The Nation.
When police raided the room No 1101 on the 11th floor of the hotel, police found several couples having sex in the same room while others were drinking and dancing.
Used condoms, lubricant gel, porno books and CDs and 30 pills of Viagra, were also found in the $55-a-night room.
Now, police are investigating Richards and his Thai wife for allegedly organising the swinging sex tour.
According to the tourist police commander, Colonel Archayon Kraithong, Richards had advertised the orgies on his website, and then charged 3,000 baht ($129) for couples and singles to participate.
Charged
He told AFP: 'He is under interrogation, but has been charged with procurement and commercial sex advertisements, which could land him 10 years jail term or a fine of up to 20,000 baht.'
Richards is alleged to have organised at least 100 swinging parties in Bangkok and the tourist resort town of Pattaya over the last three years.
Although prostitution is officially illegal in Thailand, the kingdom has a reputation for its sleazy bars and explicit sex shows, and the sex tourism industry here is believed to employ hundreds of thousands of Thais.
Colonel Archayon said there were no prostitutes at the swinging party.
Richards is not the first British national caught for organising swinging parties.
Last year another British man, Byron Craig, 57, was arrested for running what was said to be a 'swingers' sex resort in the northern Thai city of Ubon Thani, said The Guardian.
In that case, the Caroline resort seems to have been a front for a brothel where clients paid for sex with young Thai women and cross-dressing 'ladyboys'.
