<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"-->A FILIPINO domestic worker leapt 15 floors to her death from her employer's flat on hearing that her employer's wife was going to report her to police.
Initially, Myrna Simon Asiddao's employer's wife had decided not to report her after the 31-year-old confessed in writing.
But that same evening on June 2 last year, Madam Low Geok Lay, 43, decided to call the police after learning that the maid agent did not want to take her back.
The agent, who was then at Madam Low's condominium at Elias Road, questioned Myrna again on the missing money but the latter remained silent.
Madam Low had earlier found $3,242 missing from her handbag when she was about to bank in the money.
She suspected the maid and called the maid agent who told her to take the Filipina to the agency.
Initially at the agency, Myrna denied stealing the money, but admitted along the way to a police post.
She claimed that she needed to send money home as her father had died in the Philippines. She said she had remitted about $1,000 through her friend at White Sands shopping mall.
Afte Madam Low got Myrna to confess in writing that she had stolen the cash, she decided not to report the matter.
According to Myrna's friend, Ms Lucia Villanueva Apaitan, Myrna was always happy and did not have any financial, medical or social problems.
Myrna had also told her she was well treated by her employer and was looking forward to getting married when her contract ended in December.
State Coroner Victor Yeo recorded a verdict of suicide on her death.
