As part of the National Day celebrations, the first-ever Amazing Race for New Citizens will be held this Sunday to help them bond with the community.
Organised by the Clementi grassroots organisations (GROs) and Integration and Naturalisation Champions, 45 new citizens from China, Myanmar, India and Malaysia will join 45 grassroots leaders for a half-day of adventure after taking part in the Clementi National Day Walk-a-Jog.
Participants will form seven teams, each with five new citizens or Permanent Residents (PRs) and one Residents' Committee (RC) member. New citizens' family members are also encouraged to join the participants in the race.
Starting off at the Clementi Town Centre, each will take a different route consisting of 24 checkpoints. The group will have to cover seven RC Centres.
The routes and games are planned to feature Clementi's lesser-known areas and landmarks which the participants may not be aware of.
'New citizens would be able to appreciate some of the historical places/buildings of Singapore, such as Thian Hock Keng Temple, Civilian War Memorial and the City Hall, through the fun and games', said Mr Anthony Wee, BBM, Chairman of the Organising Committee and Chairman of the Clementi Community Centre (CC) Management Committee.
Guest-of-Honour Arthur Fong, Adviser to Clementi GROs, will flag off the race at 9 am, between Block 448 and 449 Clementi Avenue 3.
