I'm not sure if you agree with me... but looking at the way things are progressing, i believe PAP's votes will bounce back to 65% or more in the coming election. The reasons?
1) Of the 40% opposition voters, about 10% are middle ground voters unclear about what to expect with the opposition camp. Or rather unrealistic about what they could expect from the opposition MPs. Some of them expect WP to bash PAP at every issue, an example would be those disappointed when CSM put up a proposal that is twisted by PAP to be "in agreement" with theirs. Some are simple minded peasants who could not withstand the simple YSL test. They set a different standard for opposition vs PAP... the moment there is a blacksheep in opposition they condemn you to hell. Surely some of these 10% votes will go back to PAP. eg. Rogue Trader has already declared his support for PAP.
2) Jealousy and Selfishness - i am shocked at the extent of jealousy generated by the success of WP in the 2011 election. Just look at how these vultures jumped to feast on WP when they stumbled. This camp of people will be the main reason Opposition Politics cannot make it in Singapore. Temasek Review, Goh Meng Seng... and all the clowns alike. With these clowns around, PAP has assured success for the next millenium. These clowns derives orgasmic pleasure in attacking WP whilst on their own they could never win a seat.. or even get back their deposit.
Having said that... the continued deterioration in quality of life, the dominance of social media, the increase in % of young and frustrated voters, the implosion caused by FTs... these factors will cause PAP to lose a couple more % points. But my feel is this cannot match the damage inflicted by the jealous lots.
I hope this forum will exist till 2016, and i hope to see myself proven wrong!
