This article appears in the Straits Times on 3rd February 2007. Read it here:

The PAP internet committee was set up in July 2006. Coincidentally, TOC was founded 3 months later.
Questions for everybody to think about:
1. Why were there YPAP members involved in TOC right from the very beginning ?
2. What is the role of YPAP leader Ephraim Loy in TOC before he "left" ?
3. When Choo Zheng Xi joined TOC, he is still writing speeches for PAP MP Ho Geok Choo. Why didn't he reveal this important info to readers ?
4. Who is funding and maintaining TOC ?
5. How did TOC manage to "recruit" so many reputable people in society to its editorial team including ex-MFA Officer Gerald Giam and ex-NTUC Chief Tan Kin Lian ? Why do these people of stature choose to lend support to an unknown law undergraduate ?
6. Why did Remy Choo hijack Alex Au's "blogger 13 initiative" and shamelessly protray himself as the unofficial representative of cyberspace ?
7. Why did Straits Times keep promoting TOC to the extent of publishing 3 articles on it in a week coincidentally after PM Lee's moves to "liberalize" the political landscape by allowing outdoor protests at Hong Lim Park ?
Let's seriously think about these questions.
The PAP has already moved in to control cyberspace.
I bet with you it will take the following steps next:
1. Put a PAP MP as a "guest writer" on TOC's editorial team which will be publicized extensively by the state media. TOC will immediately be propelled into the No 1 political blog in Singapore dwarfing Mr Brown, Mr Wang, Yawning bread, Littlespeck and sgpolitics.
2. AIMS introduce rules to regulate cyberspace such as requiring owners of all political blogs to register themselves with MDA like what is happening in South Korea before they can comment on local politics.
3. TOC will be one of the few blogs which are granted this "permit" and is used as the "gold standard" for all to follow. Of course, we all know what kind of "standard gutter journalism" TOC spews out (its video protraying Chiam See Tong as being frail and disabled at Reform Party dinner still makes me PUKE).
What we can do to counter PAP's moves:
1. Spread the message far and wide about the hidden agenda of TOC. BOYCOTT it !
2. Set up an alternative news blog to TOC run by full time independent journalists like Malaysiakini.
Any other suggestions ?
