PAP government is serious about neither COVID-19 nor environmental problems facing the world.
If they were really serious about the environment, they would have worked with all hawkers and food delivery companies NOT to provide any cutlery (and possibly packaging) to reduce environmental damage and also so that people don't bring their food and eat in public places, which defeats the purpose of preventing dining in. Since only delivery folks who work individually need cutlery, only food purchased by delivery staff for own consumption need disposable cutlery. Food purchased by taxi drivers, menial workers etc all do not need cutlery since majority of these folks can bring along their own reusables (ample space in taxi/ company truck) etc or be provided reusable/disposable cutlery by employers in office pantry, worksites by foreman etc (who are aware about the worksite conditions and also well reminded to provide for rest areas for their employees as well).(PS: cutlery is basic part of SAF soldiers full pack contents as well).
Actually, in future, government should just provide a vending machine to sell reusable cutlery at a discount/ cost and disposable cutlery at a price that includes the tax levy for damage to the environment as well. The issuance of disposable cutlery by hawkers and food vendors should be outlawed altogether and all disposable containers should be taxed heavily at source of importation and production as well.
Government needs to improve its policy quality in this area, otherwise, talk about suppressing COVID-19 and protecting the environment is probably more mere lip service than fact.
Singapore should really relook it's huge waste generating wastage and abuse of disposables culture.
