PAP CEC gets new faces
By Li Xueying
THREE new faces will help lead the People's Action Party in the coming two years as members of its highest decision-making body.
Acting Manpower Minister Gan Kim Yong, Senior Parliamentary Secretary (Community Development, Youth and Sports) Teo Ser Luck and Deputy Speaker Indranee Rajah have been co-opted into the 18-member PAP central executive committee (CEC).
Stepping down are Senior Minister of State (Home Affairs and Law) Ho Peng Kee, and veteran grassroot MPs Teo Ho Pin and Halimah Yacob.
The PAP announced the CEC line-up in a statement on Friday.
The fourth person co-opted is Education Minister Ng Eng Hen, who was in the previous CEC.
The quartet complete the new CEC's full line-up.
At the party's annual conference last month, its cadres cast secret ballots electing 12 members to the CEC.
Another two - Mrs Lim Hwee Hua and Mr Mah Bow Tan - who received the next highest number of votes were also co-opted at that time.
