Pang Kim Hin Nightmare in the guise of Tin Pei Ling returns to haunt the PAP?

When JBJ won the Anson by elections, due credit went to JBJ and WP. One significant contributing factor was also the PAP Candidate Pang Kim Hin who was the nephew of Lim Kim San. Though the prostitute press never ever wrote about this and the PAP did not have the benefit of the Internet, it was clear that Pang did not fit the mould. He treated the grassroots PAP badly that they actually sabotaged his campaign.

One wonders if Tin in this case is going to create another landmark in the Singapore politics by bringing down a cabinet minister. Marine Parade has always been considered a safe seat but the PAP does have issues that might be more than enough to create a serious problem. Fatimah's family is an issue with Singapore going to prison for maid abuse. Her father and brother are noted for their arrogance. One Seh Hong has been kicked out for taking a loan from a charity. Marine Parade stalwart Puhaindran is getting old and losing his grip. The Tin affair is might just be the tipping point.

The by election loss was less than 700 votes, but it spoke volume,

I was told about what happened post-election about how mad the Old Man was with the Anson branch, and he ordered the press to leave the conference or something - basically to shut up, and they did.

If, even the then political disinterested me, still remember a bit of the story that came out of that incident, it must be a big thing.

My source told me that the backlash came mainly from those dislocated by the then new PSA container port and not given priority for HDB flats.

That is why PAP, as the only credible party in Singapore, need MPs that are aware of what's happening in their areas. For a start, they need to have people's skills and willing to serve the people. This reminded me of Dr Hong Hai and other 1 termers who were MPs to "collect medals".

"I think" the ex-PM is big enough for voters. Tin is best left in the shadow and not make a fool of herself. The voters attention will be diverted to the SAF candidate who is ordered to understudy Goh.

Good point. SM Goh has also been dissed by his own party - suggesting that he might be either on a "suicide mission" or sowing the seeds for his group in the post-LKY fracture of the party

This must be the costliest miscalculation that is backfiring so far. I hope and pray that the cabinet Minister who "sired" her gets kicked out togethr with everyone else on the GRC. I am going to the temple this weekend, something I have never done in my life for anything else. Let them feel the wrath of the scorned voters.

The Tin affair is might just be the tipping point.

I wonder, is SM Goh out to sabotage PM Lee? He seems to make statements that contradict PM Lee's views and force the prince to hold press conference to refute.

All his recent gaffes are really shocking. His motor mouth is going to bring him down beside the lack of political acumen. Or is it that they dont bother with peoples' IQ anymore. Say anything and do anything and still people will vote them?

I hope he takes a step back and fuck his own face.

The flats were certainly a factor. They were in Low Hill Road and Blair Plain and it involved poor relocation plans. Singapore has seen massive relocation in the past such as the farmers in Ponggol and many huge kampungs etc. But the got appropriate candidates to sort this out.

Singaporeans are now losing their jobs earlier, the country's identity is not submerged and fast disappearing under the onslaught of foreigners and now they are asked to seek support and help from sub-standard candidates who are going to be their candidates.

Pang Kim Hin was a millionnaire and his friends and him stood out and just could not gel despite SPH hiding these things in the press.

Marine Parade unfortunately is considered a stronghold of the PAP. Imagine if Siew Kum Hong, Alec Tok and Chen stood there, I am sure this generally easy going english speaking electorate might just throw them a line.

This guy seems to put his foot in his mouth. Remember he endorsing Steve Chia nearly 10 years ago during the elections.

His wife is no different. Both are very prone to verbal gaffe. But I wonder why he did not shut up once he became SM. Made me think that he is out to fix the prince for having it easy while he had to go through hell and criticisms for the PM post.

What kind of sauce?
Tomato or chilli sauce?

1. Curry sauce - direct from Tg Pagar grassroots. Was at the meeting. Not sure whether he is still working at NTUC, but should have migrated to Canada to join his pilot son.

2. Mudland Hakka sauce - ex-PAP MP brother. My relation. So cannot reveal more out of privacy reasons.

These people have a lot of juicy stories to tell me, esp about the Old Man. But I was disinterested in politics then.

I do not think Marine Parade is such a safe GRC, It has not been tested in 20 years! Goh Chok Tong is behaving like a demi-god and will likely suffer backlash.

And tried to get NTUC Insurance's Tan Kin Lian into politics (Goh faction?).

If you still remember what the Old Man commented about him. There was never a doubt that Goh was a seat-warmer for a better future PM. Not surprising, the Old Man did not point out his own son's shortcomings.

Also, remember the economic conditions during the time Goh has to handover the lightning rod to Loong.

As much as I don't love the PAP, I don't deny that Goh was really given a rough ascension. LKY called him a "wood" in his public statements and openly stated that Goh was just the substitute because Tony Tan refused to be PM. The prince however, was given such a smooth transition and with so many gaffes he made, his party cadres are still kind on him. One has to wonder, is it due to the Old Man still being present? And will they tear off their masks once the old man crosses over to the netherworld.

I agree. After the "Tin" affair, I did a quick assessment and it does not look good. They are pushing their luck. All it needs is a strong opposition team. The guys in that area are well educated, ex-civil servants etc. Give these guys a decent set of candidates and PAP can kiss it good bye.
