The Palestinian Information Center seems upset that the world is paying so much attention to the earthquake in Turkey and Syria and not to them.
So they wrote an article that not only accuses Israel of “aid-washing” but also claims that the damage in Gaza wars was just as bad, if not worse, than the horrific scenes we are seeing in the quake zones.
“Aid-washing” is a word newly coined by enemies of Israel. It is used pejoratively, to call into question the motives behind the enormous Israeli efforts to help countries around the world hit by natural disasters – earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, wildfires – from Mexico to Haiti to Kosovo to Turkey. it is meant to suggest that Israel provides aid only to gain support for itself. We are expected to believe that whenever other countries give aid, they do so unselfishly, but Israel alone — the country known for being quick off the mark when disasters strike, sending medical personnel, search-and-rescue teams, tons of humanitarian aid — is concerned only with improving its image. The vicious claim is absurd; Israel is simply answering a call to help, and its immediate response is rooted in Jewish ethical teaching, not in scheming about how best to win approval.

The painful scenes of the earthquake victims under the rubble, their loud cries asking for help and rescue, and the pictures of the injured children stuck under the rubble, brought back to mind the images of the successive wars on the Gaza Strip, where the occupation planes destroy homes and residential towers on the heads of their owners.
Those tens of thousands under the rubble in Turkey and Syria were innocents. In Gaza, almost all of those whom Israel strikes are terrorists. The only reason that any civilians have.died in Gaza is because Hamas places its weapons, rocket launchers, and fighters in civilian areas, even inside schools, hospitals, apartment buildings, and mosques. And Israel, as is well known, does everything it can to minimize civilian casualties, by alerting civilians to leave buildings or areas about to be targeted. The IDF warns inhabitants of the targeted areas to leave, by telephoning, emailing, and using the “knock-on-the-roof” technique.Israel has an interest in minimizing civilian casualties; Hamas has an interest in maximizing them.

As for the “successive wars on [sic] the Gaza Strip,” these wars erupt only after numerous, and exceptionally deadly, attacks on Israeli civilians by Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorists. Only then does the IDF go into action to destroy the stockpiles of rockets, the terror tunnels, the rocket launchers, and the terrorists themselves. In Gaza there is no “natural disaster,” but only a man-made one – that which the terror groups provoke by launching thousands of rockets into cities in southern Israel, or by having their members inside Israel stab, shoot, and ram with vehicles, Israeli civilians and soldiers.

It [the Palestinian Information Center] goes on to say that the destruction of Gaza was the same, and who could even imagine that Israel is really interested in saving lives? It is all just “hasbara.”
The tireless work of Israeli search-and-rescue teams, who have managed to pull alive from the rubble 19 Turkish men, women, and children – more than aid workers from any country other than Turkey itself – is belittled by the envious Palestinians as “aid-washing.” Israel’s motives are always impugned. The field hospital Israel has set up in Turkey, and staffed with its doctors, nurses, and other medical personnel is another example, according to the Palestinians, of “aid-washing.” No one can accuse the Palestinians of “aid-washing,” of course, because they have never, until just now, sent aid to any country enduring a natural disaster. But with all the attention being given to rescue efforts in Turkey and Syria, they felt they had to be seen doing something. Their contribution is distinctly underwhelming. They’ve not sent any medical personnel, nor any humanitarian aid, nor machinery to help move the rubble. Only 32 Palestinians are being sent to Turkey, without any equipment other than what they carry in their backpacks. They may have small shovels, but will also have to use their hands to dig out any victims. How does that Palestinian operation compare with the nearly 500 Israelis, including doctors, nurses, and other medical personnel, who have arrived in Turkey, along with heavy machinery to help in search-and-rescue operations, hundreds of tons of humanitarian aid, and enough medical equipment to outfit a 100-bed field hospital where Israeli doctors are already treating hundreds of the wounded?

Ibrahim Al-Madhoun said that the Zionist occupation is trying to whiten its black image after committing many crimes, and is taking advantage of the earthquake catastrophe and international sympathy with Turkey and Syria, and wants to appear with a fake face, by playing a humanitarian role that does not suit its criminal nature.
And if Israel had not sent all that aid to Turkey, wouldn’t Ibrahim Al-Madhoun be the first to denounce the Jewish state for “failing to help Muslim people in distress”? Damned if it does, and equally damned if it doesn’t, Israel quietly continues its Samaritan efforts in Turkey, and would have been happy to help the Syrian victims, as well, had Bashar Assad not forbidden accepting any aid from the”Zionists.” He’d rather see more Syrians die; after all, Assad has already caused the deaths of a half-million Syrians during the civil war, without any apparent remorse.

Al-Madhoun stressed that the image that the occupation is trying to appear as a relief and savior for the victims of the earthquake will not convince the Arab peoples and the free people of the world.
Ibrahim Al-Madhoun is quite rightly worried that just maybe, quite a few people around the world, beginning with the Turks themselves, will have been impressed with the kind, and amount, of help Israel has unstintingly given since the evening of the day when the earthquake struck. He can keep belittling Israeli help as only being given to make the Jewish state look good, but who, other than the rancid Palestinians, will believe that?

Al-Madhoun called for the need to focus on the real image of the occupation, expose its criminality, warn the world, international institutions, and countries against being deceived by the occupation, exposing its crimes, and remembering what happened and is happening, of crimes committed by the occupation on an ongoing basis.
But as far as Al-Madhoun is concerned, he’s said enough about Israelis aid-washing in Turkey. He wants us all to turn our sole attention to the greatest crime in the history of the world – the Zionists’ theft and occupation of Palestinian land, and their massacre of its rightful inhabitants.

Israeli search-and-rescue teams have worked wonders in their rescuing 19 Turks from under the rubble, more than have been rescued by any other country except Turkey. Israeli medical personnel are treating hundreds of the wounded in the fully-equipped and fully-staffed 100-bed field hospital that was up and running within four days of the earthquakes.

And those Israeli “successes” are all the more reason to denounce them, according to the Palestinians. The ulterior motives of the Zionists are obvious; they never do anything without figuring out what’s in it for them. Just wait until the next natural disaster strikes. The Israelis will be rushing to help, the way they always do, with massive numbers of aid workers, intent on showing off how many people they can rescue and treat. A typical Zionist trick. They can fool some people, unused to their diabolical guile – but not Ibrahim Al-Madhoun. He sees right through their scheming ways. All of us should.
