<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"-->A PAEDOPHILE sexually abused three young girls by pretending to check them for contraband cigarettes after claiming to be a police officer.
Muhammad Sufian Hussain, 34, admitted to four charges last month of abusing an 11-year-old girl, outraging the modesty of a 13-year-old girl and another 11-year-old girl as well as posing as a police officer.
A Community Court heard that the 11-year-old schoolgirl was on her way home on May 26 last year when Sufian approached her and flashed his EZ-Link card.
He told her he wanted to check her home for hidden cigarettes.
After finding out that no one was home, he told her to take him to her flat where he used his finger to penetrate her private part in the toilet.
He told her not to tell her parents about the 'spot check'. But she did and the police were informed.
On Oct 13 Suffian approached the second victim, a 13-year-old girl, at a bus stop in Bedok and claimed he was a policeman after flashing his EZ-Link card.
He claimed that some girls were hiding cigarettes in their panties and wanted to check on her.
After hailing a cab, he took her to Block 719 Bedok Reservoir Road where he pressed her breasts after telling her to lift up her shirt and bra and face the staircase. He also tapped the sides of her ribs to her hips as if he was conducting a spot check.
He then told her to pull down her T-shirt, shorts and panties. He then molested her before he committed an obscene act infront of her.
The court heard that he similarly pressed the breasts of his third victim while purportedly searching her body for cigarettes.
The 11-year-old victim was so afraid that she dared not tell anyone until she summoned up courage to tell her mother about a month later. A police report was made.
Community Court Judge Ng Peng Hong postponed sentencing to June 3 pending a preventive detention report. Sufian, who has convictions for molestation and insulting modesty, can be detained up to 20 years and caned.
