World class city but S'poreans continue to air laundry in public spaces

world_class_city_but_sporeans_continue_to_hang-thumbnail.jpg

It is a shame that some Singaporeans have the cheek to hang their wet laundry out to dry in public places like this Compassvale Bow playground, says STOMPer Keep the faith.

This goes to prove that although Singapore has attained world class status as a city, some residents are still lagging behind, he says.

In an email dated November 21, STOMPer Keep the faith says:

"This was at Compassvale Bow.

"I understand that the recent weather has not been kind but this is a public playground for kids to play, not your personal laundry drying ground.

"Ugly Singaporeans.

"All the ugly sides of Singapore, despite attaining world class reputation. :-(

"What a shame."

Garment will keep recruiting those "low-car visitors" and SG will forever be low-car city.

No money to buy drier, what to do?...soon, the Town Council will charge for the use of sunlight to dry clothes, on an hourly rate...please don't tempt them, with this comments...

i don't think Singaporeans do that, cos they will not carry that heavy stuff to the play ground to dry la, they will keep in side their house air for more day to dry.

most likely is FT la.

Lol, Singaporeans only know how to complain and take pictures. I would have just thrown all the clothes into the rubbish bin. There is no crime committed if you are just helping to keep the public areas clean and tidy.

No wonder the majority of Singaporeans love getting screwed so much.

I tend to believe these are works of new residents from 3rd world countries.

Let's analyse :

1- 3rd world countries used to dry their stuff on trees, bushes, on the strings held by 2 branches, on their roof......whatever.

2- Long-time residents been caged up in small, high rise pigeon holes for 30-40 years and won't have this option of hanging stuff on public space to dry.

Option 1- seemed more possible as habits die hard and they know this is possible, and with the recent floods (literally) of such 3rd world new residents.

The Town Council managed to locate the owners of these clothes...... they belonged to PR Ah Tiongs whereby their mother who was visiting from PRC hung them out to dry....... :(
