Shoddy construction leaves hole in wall, causes water to leak
The work at this newly-constructed apartment building in Geylang is shoddy and appalling, says STOMPer Mr.Chong, who had an unsightly hole drilled in his wall without his consent.
Not only has the hole caused for water leakage and disruption to the sender's neighbours, there are also stones and dirt left on the window bays of many levels.
In an email, STOMPer Mr.Chong says:
“I feel sad that the building control (both safety and standard) in Singapore is extremely poor.
“Can you imagine that a newly-built private apartment at Geylang which has had a Temporary Occupation Permit for about 10 months, but still has plenty of dangerous leftovers such as stones and concrete along the window bays from the first to the eighth floor?
“I complained to the workers in early July but till now, nobody seems to care.
“In addition, the developer concealed a drain without the owner's consent and drilled a hole on the wall. The water falls directly from my roof terrace and lands on my neighbours' windows, creating noise and nuisance.
“The additional spout left a big hole of about 450cm squares.
“These irregularities are not in accordance to the building plan. Is this the kind of standard we want for our buildings?
“I have reported to the BCA in September but nothing has been done.
“Should BCA monitor and supervise more closely so that the place we stay in is safe and has standard?
“The developer wanted to divert the water into my master bedroom toilet which I rejected. I found their idea very unreasonable.”
