I think they would be increasing the fee soon. I thought PCF is for the general singaporean...how can like that!!!
SEVERAL kindergartens and childcare centres run by Singapore's largest operator have brought in an external consultant to keep enrolment numbers up.
Twenty centres - mainly in the Jurong and Bukit Timah areas - under the People's Action Party Community Foundation (PCF) will now be managed by NTUC First Campus.
NTUC has overhauled the curriculum, added more training hours for teachers and done physical upgrading works on the centres.
The cost of doing this overhaul will be covered mainly by respective constituencies' fundraising efforts and money from donors.
These centres, which will now be called 'Little Wings', will use the same curriculum and pool teaching resources. Teachers will also get a chance to move between centres.
Finance Minister and Member of Parliament (Jurong GRC) Tharman Shanmugaratnam said at the launch of 'Little Wings' on Tuesday that he and four other fellow MPs decided to jointly collaborate on this project, to improve the quality of pre-school education at these centres.
'What we are doing...is an example of the PCF's approach of promoting diverse initiatives, all aimed at providing the best possible early education to our children,' he said.
Mr Tharman added that fees, which are $105 per month at the kindergartens, will remain the same for now.
