Disturbed by police stance after 'bomb' find

I READ yesterday's article ("Who should defuse war relic?") and am surprised to read that the police could not respond by press time to queries as to why the company owner had to engage a private bomb disposal firm.
I am very disturbed by the stance taken by the police on public and private property. My family and myself have all these years understood that the police have the authority over both public and private property.
If such authority is not vested in the police, they would be unable to discharge their duties of serving and protecting the public.
Unless of course, the police do not consider defusing bombs as part of their service. Perhaps I should look to private security companies for crime prevention as well?

Once in the past a Malaysian farmer brought a WW2 bomb found in his padi field to the local police station, causing panic n mayhem there. He was later reprimanded by the police n told to call them instead should he ever find one again.

Can the company owner take possession of the gold bars? Another thing, can SAF tell us its role during peacetime? SAF can send soldiers to Afghanistan to help foreigners, yet refused to help its own countrymen to dispose a bomb. I hope PM or Defence Minister say something on this case.

So much poured into the military every year equipped with a bomb defusing unit and yet they can't do the job once in a blue moon. Blatantly sending a message to the public to pay 15K if you find one!
