Osama Bin Laden, founder of Islamic extremist group al-Qaeda, called the attention of France to pull out its military troops from Afghanistan in return for the discharge of French hostages.
Bin Laden sent his message through an audio taped that was televised on Al-Jazeera, an Arabic news channel, on Friday. The founder of al-Qaeda stated that the exit of French hostages in their hands depends on the pulling out of French troops in Afghanistan.
Extremist organizations that were connected with al-Qaeda are holding no less than seven hostages from military troops of France, including two in Afghanistan and five in Sahara Desert. France has almost 3,850 military troops in Afghanistan as part of the mission of North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) to battle the Taliban.
The forces of French are positioned mostly in the Surobi and Kapisa districts east and north of Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan. Nicolas Sarkozy, the president of France, stated that his country stays fearless in its role to help alleviate the Afghanistan.
On the other hand, Bernard Valero, the spokesperson of French Foreign Ministry, claimed that the message of Bin Laden was still being verified. Valero also said that they are decided to continue their efforts on behalf of the people in Afghanistan, with their alliances.
However, Bin Laden reminded that the French individuals of President Sarkozy’s rejection to pull out the French military troops in Afghanistan in November and to discuss with al-Qaeda over their hostages. He stated that France president’s dismissal is an outcome of being an employee to the United States and is a green light to destroy the hostages. Bin Laden added that the stand of President Sarkozy will cost them high consequences on various aspects outside or inside France.
