Oppo R7 Plus aces our battery life and charge tests with best-in-class longevity

Believe it or not, a thin phablet with 4100 mAh scored one of the best continuous screen-on times in our gruelling battery life benchmark test. The new Oppo R7 Plus is not only one of the most elegant big-screeners we've seen, 2.5D display and all, but also managed to keep its lights on for nearly 10 hours with the screen lit, and running our standardized testing pattern. This would translate to about two days of normal usage from the phablet, which is great news for those that are eyeing Oppo's latest puppy.

As a reminder, the R7 Plus features a 6-inch display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. It is powered by a Snapdragon 615 system chip, a 64-bit piece of silicon with an octa-core CPU consisting of four Cortex A53 clocked at 1.5 GHz and four more at a lower clock speed of 1 GHz, all of that running alongside 3GB of RAM. The base model of the Oppo R7 Plus will come stocked with 16GB of internal storage. On the camera side, the handset sports a 13-megapixels main camera with laser autofocus technology, and an 8-megapixels front one.

Words don't really do justice on this phone, though - at 6.22 x 3.23 x 0.31 inches (158 x 82 x 7.75 mm), it hits almost a 77% screen-to-body ratio, and this compact for the screen size chassis comes in an elegant all-metal unibody with a fingerprint sensor on the back. Oppo has also provided a fat 4A charger, so juicing up its respectable 4100 mAh unit from zero to hero took 107 minutes only, which is a great achievement for this capacity. In a nutshell, even before we put the R7 Plus through its appropriate review paces, we'd suggest you take a long and hard look at it if you are looking for a big-screen phone with fairly compact dimensions, fine design, and a battery to last you through the weekend.
