Two of RSAF's F-15SGs scrambled and took off within minutes when the pilot of a Scoot plane declared a bomb threat – it was flying en route to Hat Yai, Thailand. The F-15SG pilots closely escorted the Scoot plane from the South China Sea to land safely back at Changi Airport. The Singapore Police Force is investigating the incident.

But for our RSAF pilots who are on stand-by duties 24/7, every threat is considered real until proven otherwise. They keep us and our skies safe. Well done, - Ng Eng Hen fb 05 April 2018.

SINGAPORE - A Scoot flight headed for Hat Yai, Thailand, returned to Changi Airport on Thursday (April 5) after the authorities were alerted to an alleged bomb threat on board.

Flight TR634, which left Changi Airport at 1.20pm, was escorted back by two Republic of Singapore Air Force fighter jets. This is protocol for such incidents, sources said.

Scoot, in a statement on Thursday afternoon, said that the aircraft landed safely at 3.23pm.

"We're working closely with the authorities for necessary follow-up to ensure the safety of our guests," said the airline.

The Police confirmed that a report was received regarding an alleged bomb threat made by a passenger on board the flight.

They later said they checked the plane as well as the baggage of the passenger who made the bomb threat and his two travelling companions and found no threat.

A 41-year-old man has been arrested for making a false bomb threat. The Straits Times understands that the suspect is Singaporean.

The airline also confirmed that the aircraft was declared safe "after investigations and associated procedures were concluded". It added that the flight has been rescheduled to resume its journey to Hat Yai at 6.30pm.

Scoot said that three passengers were offloaded for investigations.

Must have been a terrorist on a tight budget....

He is not an opposition but a disgruntled RC member of your constituency. You have been giving him crumbs while taking the huge sums and he is fed up with you.

This is the closest any RSAF plane has got to any sort of "action"....

Should have a dozen war planes escorting scoot to another man made island. Then do a thorough check of the plane/pax.

Yes, the upper crust comrades gets to go to Imperial College London, while the low class RC members get to fly of soot..oops ScOOT to Hatyai..."john" gets to go to Johor Legoland only or the Johor Baru Zoo...where entrance fees is RM1...

What can the fighter jets do ?

..yeah shouldn't it be guided to a remote place so that if there is a real bomb and the terror refuse to yield...I shudder to think of the
damage that can be done if the plane exploded in main land. Minister for Defence please take note...just my concern only.

I suspect the fighter jets were there to make sure if there was a bomb the plane would never get the chance to land in Singapore. If I were on board, I would be even more worried to see a F16 flying side by side.
