One of KL's professional pimps tells all

MALAYSIA- NO self-respecting businessman, socialite or public figure would risk trolling the alleys off Jalan Alor and Chow Kit for some "companionship" or visiting massage parlours and spas for some "extra service".
Enter "KaiKo" ("brother chicken" in Cantonese), one of Kuala Lumpur's many emerging professional pimps.

Driving a flashy Mercedes SLK and dressed in a crisp Armani suit, KaiKo looks more like a well to do yuppie than a purveyor of prostitutes. He claims his clientele are mainly English-speaking professionals, expatriates and VIPs.

"For them, money is no problem as long as their privacy and safety is guaranteed," says KaiKo, adding that he accepts clients only through referrals.

"I am on call 24 hours a day. Whenever my clients' want sex, they would call me and my commitment to them is that within 90 minutes, a beautiful young girl will be at their door.

"Of course, that also means the price would be steeper for calls between 12am and 12pm -- about RM500 (S$207) per hour including transport," he says, a RM200 (S$82) premium over the usual price.

New clients are required to pay cash on delivery, while bigger clients are allowed to pay via electronic bank transfers.

KaiKo "delivers" to any hotel or house in the Klang Valley.

He claims to have 10 full-timers, all locals, English-speaking and with excellent health and physiques.

When he gets requests that are on the kinkier side, he says: "I have to pull favours with an escort agency I hold shares in".

That agency only serves KL and operates through a website. At first glance, it looks like the website of the prostitution organisation where former New York governor Eliot Spitzer was alleged to have squandered thousands in public funds.

Claiming to be "Malaysia's most innovative and sought-after escort agency", it offers an exhaustive menu of sexual services and types of girls available and their prices.

"We make your dreams come true," the website claims.

Among the "fantasies" listed are striptease performances for RM1,000 an hour, for a maximum audience of 10.

There is no shortage of choice, claims the website, as in addition to locals, girls from a variety of nations like Thailand, Indonesian, Laos, Vietnam, the Philippines and China are available.

"Occasionally we also feature exotic stock like Russian, Korean and Japanese girls, who fly in maybe twice a year and work for a month on tourist visas," KaiKo said.

The website also offers clients performance enhancing drugs like Viagra, Cialis, Levitra and Spanish Fly. These medications are brought in from the United States with the help of Malaysians making return trips.

"Please contact us if you are interested in helping us acquire some products from America," the website asks. Those taking up the offer will be reimbursed on delivery, "and we'll throw in a free one-hour package too".

KaiKo plays down the impact of his lucrative business. "Compared with other vices like drugs and gambling, sex is the most harmless.

"The girls under me were not tricked into the industry. In fact, I see my role as helping people enjoy all life has to offer. Who knows, I might also be saving some marriages. After all, a fling is better than an affair!"

M'sia sex trade booms amid economic gloom
May 27, 2009

THE world economy may be going bust, but solicited sex in Malaysia seems to be booming.

The trade is worth billions.

Sources in the local prostitution scene put it at RM3.2 billion ($1.3 billion) last year, reported New Straits Times.

Statistics from the international non-governmental organisation, Coalition Against the Trafficking of Women, estimate that there are a total of about 150,000 prostitutes with more than 10,000 in the Klang Valley area.

Ms Aegile Fernandez, anti-human trafficking coordinator of local women's aid NGO Tenaganita, said that according to information from the women they rescue, a prostitute usually works a seven-day week, charging RM150 an hour.

She told the newspaper: 'Serving an average of eight clients a day, she ends up making RM1,200 daily and possibly RM36,000 a month.

The syndicates that run the brothels have up to 100 girls under them collectively raking in about RM120,000 a day and a whopping RM3.6 million a month.

A pimp known only as JJ and who has been in the industry for more than 10 years, told the paper that prostitution is a recession-proof business.

He said: 'Things didn't slow down for us during the 1997 Asian financial crisis or any of the recessions before that.'

He said Malaysia has hundreds of such syndicates, each operating several brothels in their designated areas.

'Health centres'

Brothels could sometimes double as health centres offering massage services.

Giving an idea of how the money is made, he said clients are willing to pay from RM60 to RM100 for an hour of massage, followed by an additional RM150 for sex, he said.

Ms Fernandez estimates more than half of the prostitutes hail from China and other South-east Asian nations.
