SINGAPORE: A Singaporean man, who was trapped under the rubble of a hotel in earthquake-hit Padang in Indonesia's Sumatra island, has reportedly been rescued and taken to a medical centre.
According to CNN journalist Mark Philips, the Singaporean was in the foyer of the hotel when the quake struck the city on Wednesday. A video on CNN's website showed the journalist talking to the man.
According to the report, the man was trapped for nearly 24 hours. He told the journalist to call his two daughters in Singapore.
Earlier, Singapore's Foreign Affairs Ministry said it was trying to ascertain with the Indonesian authorities if the Singaporean was trapped in the rubble of Hotel Mariani.
