MR LEE Kuan Yew was the focus of attention as these grassroots leaders posed for pictures with the Minister Mentor during a Chinese New Year party at the Istana yesterday.

The garden party on the Istana lawn was organised for Cabinet ministers and Members of Parliament to thank grassroots leaders for their work and service to the community.
About 4,000 of them and their family members attended the event. Also present were President S R Nathan and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. The crowd was entertained by the Sembawang Wind Orchestra Group. Adding to the evening's activities were a Chinese calligraphy demonstration by the Chinese Calligraphy Society and handicraft demonstrations by various ethnic groups.

why is he continously being surrounded by people who "pretends" to like him?

this is not very healthy for his spiritual growth.

Photo shows mainly the grassroot leaders, civil servants (eg teachers et al) etc invited to 'tripod' LKY for personal gain (promotions and salary increases). These fair weather supporters will just as quickly abandon LKY and the PAP if it falls and 'tripod' the next political powers that be.
