A photo of a yellow iPhone displayed on Apple's official website has sparked rumors that the global electronics giant will offer more color choices for its next generation iPhone.
The said photo features a factory worker from Apple contract manufacturer Foxconn assembling an iPhone on the company's System Reliability page. The caption says: "A worker prepares an iPhone for final assembly. Suppliers are required to provide workers with protective gear and ensure that they are properly trained on safety standards."
The phone in the photo has not been confirmed as Apple's next generation iPhone 5S or its rumored low-priced iPhone, though foreign media have reported that the company will try to adopt more colors for its future iPhone products.
Other websites have pointed out that the yellow coating seen in the photo is actually a protective layer used during assembly, and that the photo was taken long before Apple published its revised Supplier Responsibility report.
Meanwhile, a Chinese netizen has posted an picture from his friend, an alleged Foxconn worker, which shows a supposed new iPhone 5S with a larger touch screen.
Technology website EMSOne has quoted an analyst from investment firm Barclays Capital saying that Apple will launch the iPhone 5S and a low-priced iPhone in August. The appearance of the iPhone 5S will be similar to the iPhone 5 but with more colors, the website said.
Peter Misek, analyst of global investment banking firm Jeffries, also said that Apple will launch the iPhone 5S and a low-priced iPhone with more colors in the third quarter of the year.
