Odd-job worker hacked to death in mob attack
IPOH: An odd-job worker was hacked to death in a mob attack near here, allegedly over a debt collection. Abdul Rashid Ramesh Abdullah, 31, who was slashed on the head and right hand, died while being rushed to Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun after the 11am incident on Thursday. His sister-in-law, who declined to be named, said the family last saw the victim an hour before the incident.
“He told us he was going to see some friends to collect debts,” she said, adding that it was a terrible blow for the family as Abdul Rashid’s wife was expecting their fifth child. “We do not understand why anyone would want to hurt him. He was a helpful person,” she said between tears. Abdul Rashid was believed to have been attacked by at least six men in front of a sundry shop in Klebang Ria in Chemor.
