1st privately run PCF centre but owned by PAP
By Jessica Jaganathan
A NEW childcare centre - owned by the People's Action Party Community Foundation (PCF) but run by a private school - will be opening in Bishan.
Hampton Pre-School, opening in January, will be managed by international school EtonHouse, and will offer a different curriculum from the 33 childcare centres run by the PCF.
It will be the first PCF centre to be managed by a private education provider.
Fees, at $680 a month, will be higher than the average of $500 charged by PCF's other childcare centres, but lower than EtonHouse's regular school fees of between $1,000 and $1,500.
The cost of starting up the centre, estimated to be around $300,00, will be put up by the PCF.
The Hampton pre-school is part of the Government's plan to set up 200 more childcare centres over the next four years and to enhance their quality, said Deputy Prime Minister Wong Kan Seng, who is a Member of Parliament for Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC, on Friday.
