Obama earns $400,000 a year
Chicago: Guess how much does U.S. President Barack Obama earn? A cool salary of $400,000 a year in cash, a new list has revealed.
Well his staffers are also doing well with almost half the presidential income. In fact, the list sent to the U.S. Congress has revealed the salaries of 487 White House Office employees, capped at $172,200, the Chicago Sun Times reported. The $172,200 earners from Chicago are Senior Adviser David Axelrod, Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, Senior Adviser Valerie Jarrett and Susan Sher, Chief of Staff to the First Lady Michelle Obama.
The White House has sent the list to the Congress under a requirement in place since 1995. The White House met the July 1 deadline by posting the names, titles and salaries of 487 staffers at “whitehouse.gov”, but didn’t announcing it via a press release.
“We make news on our blog all the time,” spokesman Josh Earnest was quoted as saying.
However, the White House did not include the Vice-President’s office or the Office of Management and Budget. Mr. Earnest said: “We’re looking at ways we can disclose” the salary information of more White House staffers.
The first family is billed every month by the GSA, for their food consumed at the white house or for any parties they host for personal reasons.
