NUH claimed that the machine, acquired in 2003, should have sounded its alarm within seconds when the tube was disconnected. The hospital further alleged that the machine's system was about three minutes late in triggering the alarm. -- ST PHOTO: LIM SIN THAI
TAKEN to court by a patient over a botched dialysis session, the National University Hospital (NUH) is in turn taking medical products company Baxter Healthcare (Asia) to court for supplying it with an allegedly defective machine.
This latest twist came about when the hospital recently named Baxter as a third party to the suit brought against it by the family of kidney patient Tee Soh Hah.
The 58-year-old suffered brain damage and became bedridden after a mishap at NUH on March 17, 2006.
