THE National Solidarity Party (NSP) on Tuesday unveiled six candidates that it will field in the five-member Jurong GRC and the Radin Mas single-seat ward for the coming polls.
The five are Mr Christopher Neo, 48; Mr Abdul Rasheed, 69; Mr Elvin Ong, 33, all three businessmen; Mr Ong Hock Siong, 64, company director; and Ms Noraini Yunus, 43, a telemarketeer.
All except Ms Noraini have contested elections.
The Radin Mas candidate is Mr Yip Yew Weng, 60, a businessman who contested in Yio Chu Kang single-seat in the 2006 polls.
Ms Noraini, a university dropout, wants to speak up on behalf of the Malay community, women and children.
She studied at top schools Raffles Girls School and National Junior College before dropping out of the National University of Singapore due to family circumstances.
The six candidates were unveiled at a press conference held at the NSP office on Tuesday. It is the party's first formal introduction of election candidates.
The party has said it would field at least 20 candidates for the next polls.

Christopher Neo Ting Wei
Age: 48
Occupation: Businessman; Vice-President of NSP
Marital status: Married to Madam Lim Ai Lang, 44, a pre-school principal. They have four children.
Highest educational qualifications: Mathematics degree from Leicester University, Masters in finance from RMIT, Australia)
Languages/dialects spoken: English, Mandarin and Hokkien
Likely to be fielded in: Jurong GRC
Electoral history: Active in politics since 1996. Stood for election three times. In 1997, he stood in Boon Lay single-seat ward under the NSP ticket, winning 33.9 per cent of the vote. In 2001, he stood in Tampines GRC under the banner of the Singapore Democratic Alliance, which the NSP joined that year. The team won 26.7 per cent of the vote then. In 2006, he stood in Sembawang GRC under the Singapore Democratic Party banner, winning 23.3 per cent of the vote.
Elvin Ong Beng Soon
Age: 33
Occupation: Businessman; NSP webmaster and Youth Guild secretary.
Marital status: Single
Highest educational qualification: Diploma in mechatronics engineering from Singapore Polytechnic
Languages/dialects spoken: English, Mandarin and Hokkien
Likely to be fielded in: Jurong GRC
Electoral history: Involved in opposition politics since his second year in polytechnic. Volunteered at meet-the-people sessions in Potong Pasir from 2003 to 2006. Contested in Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC in 2006 at the age of 27 under the SDA banner, winning 31.3 per cent of the vote.
Abdul Rasheed
Age: 69
Occupation: Businessman; NSP central executive council (CEC) member
Marital status: Married with three sons and four grandsons
Languages/dialects spoken: English, Malay and Tamil
Likely to be fielded in: Jurong GRC
Electoral history: A former trade unionist who has been active in politics since the 1970s. Town councillor in Nee Soon Central single-seat ward from 1991 to 1997. Volunteered at MPS in Potong Pasir and Nee Soon Central from 1988 to 1997. Contested in Punggol single-seat ward in 1988 on the SDP ticket, winning 40.2 per cent of the vote.
Noraini Yunus
Age: 42
Occupation: Telesales agent
Marital status: Single
Highest educatonal qualification: LCCI certificate in call centre operations
Languages/dialects spoken: English, Malay and Arabic
Likely to be fielded in: Jurong GRC
Electoral history: Has not contested before. Volunteered with the SDA during the 2006 election.
Ong Hock Siong
Age: 64
Marital status: Separated with two children
Highest educational qualification: Arts degree from Nanyang University; Post-graduate diploma in ports and shipping administration from the University of Wales' Institute of Science and Technology

Electoral history: Contested in Tampines GRC in 2006 under the SDA banner, winning 31.5 per cent of the vote
Yip Yew Weng
Age: 60
Occupation: Businessman; NSP CEC member
Marital status: Married to a housewife, with one son, 15.
Highest educational qualification: Masters in political science from Hull University, UK.

Likely to be fielded in: Radin Mas single-seat ward
Electoral history: Joined NSP in 1993. Contested three times. In 1997, he stood in Chua Chu Kang single-seat ward on the NSP ticket, winning 22.1 per cent of the vote. In 2001, he stood in Tampines GRC under the SDA banner, winning 26.7 per cent of the vote. In 2006, he stood in Yio Chu Kang single-seat ward on the SDA ticket, winning 31.7 per cent of the vote.
