A COMMITTEE has recommended better allowances for national servicemen in recognition of their contributions to Singapore's defence.
A COMMITTEE has recommended better allowances for national servicemen in recognition of their contributions to Singapore's defence.They will also be allowed to bring company-configured laptops and mobile devices such as Blackberry during their in-camp training to help them stay connected to their workplace.
These are among the 18 recommendations put up by the Fifth Committee to Recognise the Contributions of Operationally Ready National Servicemen to Total Defence (RECORD V), which is chaired by Minister of State for Defence Associate Professor Koo Tsai Kee.
The committee, which unveiled the recommendations on Thursday morning, said they are to better recognise the contributions of NSmen, and are in line 'with the the rising aspirations of Operationally Ready National Servicemen and the increasingly important leadership roles they play'.
The committee has recommended higher rank allowance increments and combat allowance for the NSmen.
