X'mas nightmare at Takashimaya when staff uses F-word on me
Christmas shopping at Takashimaya turned into a nightmare for a STOMPer and his wife when the service staff started acting rudely, even spewing vulgarities at him.
According to the STOMPer, he had asked a Mr. X for permission to take pictures of the Christmas trees on display.
When the staff agreed, the STOMPer took some pictures. He was however, stopped a short moment later by another staff member.
The STOMPer then wanted to know why Mr. X had said it was okay in the first place.
An argument soon broke out and Mr. X used the f-word during the confrontation with the customer.
After he was persuaded to let things go, the STOMPer was taken aback once again as a stranger, who was not a staff member at the tree kiosk, approached him and started to pick a fight.
The STOMPer recounts in an email dated December 5:
“On December 4, at around 9:29pm, I went with my wife and nephew to Takashimaya for some Christmas tree shopping.
“We visited the atrium road show at basement two and saw a big kiosk called the "Trim Shop".
“We decided to take a look since there is a wide range of trees and ornaments available.
“When I saw a nicely dressed up tree, I asked the sales assistant, Mr. X, if it was okay for us to take some pictures of it. He said it was okay so I snapped a few pictures.
“Suddenly an old lady, Mdm Y, approached me and told me that photography was not allowed.
“An argument started and Mr. X, together with a few staff members of Trim Shop joined in the commotion.
“I was very angry and felt turned off by their poor attitude.
“Mr X even used the F-word during the conversation and dared us to call the police while attempting to chase us away!
“A kind-hearted old man who saw the whole commotion tried to break the heated argument by dragging me away.
“Outnumbered, I moved aside. I felt much better as the old man shared the same sentiment and was understanding enough to tell me not to bother with such rude people.
“So my wife, nephew and I walked away and continued browsing on the other side of the kiosk.
“This time, a passer-by (Hooligan Z), neatly dressed in shirt and pants walked up to approach us.
“Initially we thought this passer-by was some manager of Trim Shop, trying to apologise for the bad service.
“We were taken aback when Hooligan Z said: ‘What is it that you all want? Please LEAVE!!!
“My wife replied: ‘We were just browsing around. This is a public place. What is wrong?’
“Hooligan Z answered: ‘Ok, go on and browse! You guys like to take photos right? Come, go over to the stage and I will take photos for the threeof you!’
“I wonder what this guy was trying to do when he admitted that he was not a staff member there.
“He did not even know the whole story and came to intervene. Is he trying to act as a hero or what?
“Hooligan Z even got physical and gave me a slight push and he tried to drag the three of us to the stage
“I remained calm and told him not to get physical or we would call the cops.
“Hooligan Z then replied, ‘call the police lah. Call, call, call!".
“I don’t understand what the heck is this guy trying to show.
“It is none of his business at all!!!
“In the end the kind-hearted old man dragged us away again.
“What a bad Christmas shopping experience!”
