A full-time national serviceman who set fire and scribbled loanshark graffiti on two units in Bedok was jailed for 18 months and ordered to be given six strokes of the cane.
Jerryl Tuen Wai Kit, 21, pleaded guilty on Wednesday to harassing the two occupants at Bedok Reservoir Road and Bedok South Avenue 2 on behalf of an unlicensed moneylender known as Henry on Dec 30, 2011.
A district court heard that Tuen was given Henry's number by someone he met at a pub in Clarke Quay. He had told the man that his salary was not enough for his living expenses.
Subsequently Tuen contacted Henry who said he was willing to pay him $500 for each debtor's residence he harassed by setting fire on the door and scribbling O$P$ on the wall.
