SINGAPORE: Finding a parking space at Orchard Road should soon become easier.
From August 31, information panels, indicating where there are available parking lots, will be installed at 11 locations along major roads leading into the popular shopping area. The roads include Tanglin Road, Stevens Road and Paterson Road.
With this information, motorists will not need to circle the area looking for empty lots.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) says the system will also lead to a more efficient use of limited parking space.
The 14 hotels, shopping centres and cinema complexes participating in the scheme include Wisma Atria, Far East Plaza, Meritus Mandarin Hotel and The Cathay.
Similar information panels were first set up in the Marina Centre area last April, and LTA says eight in 10 motorists surveyed have since found it easier to find parking space.
