Actually there is a basis to say that gay issues should be addressed by the proper authorities and not by Aware.

However many people have missed the strategic point by gays in co-opting a pressure group for their own ends.

Aware is not an ordinary pressure group. It is one that has great prominence and has close ties with the MCYS.

Thus its activism has an impact on the government's policies.
