<!-- story content : start --> HOUSEWIFE Liau Cheok Huey received a priceless gift for her 50th birthday - a kidney from her husband which saved her life. Madam Liau had been diagnosed with kidney failure four years ago and was undergoing dialysis at the National Kidney Foundation (NKF). Throughout her treatment, she declined numerous offers from her husband Teo Eng Hong, 51, to accept one of his kidneys. But when her condition deteriorated last month, she finally said yes. 'I was reluctant because I was afraid for him,' said Madam Liau. The couple have been married for 10 years and have no children.
'Also I was worried that he might not be able to work after that.'
