Engineer jailed for road rage
By Elena Chong, Courts Correspondent
A MAN was so angry with being overtaken that he used his motorcycle to hit the other's motorbike two or three times.
Assistant engineer Tan Loon Cheong, 24, told the motorcyclist, Mr Muhammad Hafidz Sulaiman, 21, to pull to the side so that he could talk to him.
But Mr Hafidz, who was with his girlfriend, rode off while the light was still red along Woodlands Road on Aug 11.
Tan gave chase and managed to catch up with Mr Hafidz at the Woodlands Road-Senja Road junction.
There, he grabbed the victim's ignition key and kicked the motorcycle twice, causing the couple to dismount. The motorcycle fell to the ground.
When Tan was kicking the victim?s motorcycle, the victim swung his arm at Tan, hitting his mouth.
When Mr Hafidz asked for the return of his ignition key, Tan punched him a few times on his head during a dispute.
They were separated by a passer-by.
Mr Hafidz, whose glasses broke, was bleeding from the head and treated for his minor injuries in hospital. On Tuesday, Tan was jailed two months after pleading guilty to the two offences last week.
