Toyota is aggressively producing hybrid cars these day to smash the EV cars....
If u are thinking of getting a new car... drop dead buy another ICE car.. ICE- Internal Combustion Engine.
Go for this hybrid which comes in many range nowaday from 1600cc to 2200cc.
Hybrid car is Toyota invention combination of ICE and EV technology.... it claims with 1 full tank of petrol, 60L, is enough for 1 week city driving.... as such it used little petrol in the ICE part.
The EV battery takes over cranking the wheels and self charge the batteries using the induction coil technology...
Now, this is the interesting part....
Is it neccessary to change oil, oil filter at 5,000 km interval? And change spark plugs at 10,000 km..
Here is the catch.
The ICE is used only at cold stage start up, and to charge up the high voltage capacitors to certain voltage and then transfer current to charge up the batteries. When the batteries are charge to its full potential it cut off the ICE and take over the jobs.
The ICE will stop firing but pistons keep rotating in motion only. When the spark plugs stop firing there is no fuel burn to generate combustion heat.
The viscosity of the oil is not lost from the heat. Therefore the oil shd last longer and cleaner, compare with ICE car which generate high combustion heat all the time.
The oil greases the pistons only but no combustion heat is generated.
like yr bicycle the spockets are greased with oil and the grease last a long time becos no combustion heat is generated....
If u drove one hybrid before, open up the boot of the ICE, touch and feel the ICE part. It is still cold, at cold stage, no combustion heat generated.
Therefore the oil filter still clean, so is the viscosity of the oil is still good...
To change oil and filter at 5000 km interval become not neccesary.
So when is it neccessay to service yr car: change oil, filter and spark plugs .... uhhh... 10,000km, 15,000km or 100,000 km? .... Hehehe...
The mechanic will run out of biz soon in 10 years time from now... and when Toyota can shrink the ICE down further doing minor job at startup or reinvent the ICE further...
The ICE mechanic does not hv the answers but bs at you only...
U can ask the Toyota snake oil saleman too, see what they say...
