STOMPer Wandi was shocked to see this woman blatantly eating a slice of pizza in the Dhoby Ghaut MRT Station.

In an email to STOMP today (April 14), the STOMPer says:

“This took place on April 9 at 3.37pm.

“Is she trying to challenge SMRT to catch her?

“I'm so shocked to see her eating a slice of pizza in the Dhoby Ghaut MRT Station.”

In response to STOMPer Mallory's claim that staff turned a blind eye towards a girl seen drinking at the MRT platform, SMRT says that staff had approached the girl and that she complied with rules once she was informed about them.

On April 9, STOMPer Mallory expressed disappointment upon witnessing two SMRT staff walk away without ensuring that the commuter stopped consuming her drink.

In their response, SMRT says:

“Under the Rapid Transit Systems (RTS) Regulations, eating and drinking is not allowed in our trains and stations. The regulation is in place because such activities may soil our premises and make travelling less pleasant for passengers.

“Passengers who are found to be doing so will be given a warning, and our staff will issue a Notice of Offence if the passenger does not comply.

“Our investigation showed that on April 7 during the evening peak period, a passenger approached our staff at Woodlands MRT Station and informed about a girl who was drinking at the platform.

“Our staff approached the girl, explained that she was not allowed to drink within the station premises and requested that she stop. The girl complied and the staff continued with their duties.

“In this instance, our staff did not take further action as the girl had complied after she was told not to drink.

“We have reminded our staff to be more vigilant, and to advise passengers to discard the drink or leave the station to consume it.”
