[h=1]New regulation ban taxi booking applications from specifying destinations[/h]admin / 2 hours ago May 11, 2015

The Singapore Parliament today passed a new law requiring all third-party taxi booking applications like GrabTaxi and Easy Taxi to be regulated under the Land Transport Authority. Failure to register will result in a maximum penalty of $10,000 fine and 6 months jail.

However the regulation is filled with restrictions that will dampen the competitiveness and flexibility of the third-party taxi booking applications.

One key concern is the function of specifying destinations, which is a very popular option for taxi drivers who are ending their shifts. Using third-party taxi applications, taxi drivers have the option to not pick up a customer based on where he is going. The new regulation by Minister Lui Tuck Yew will ban such option for taxi drivers:
“We do not want taxi drivers to cherry-pick their fares. This is consistent with the approach that we have taken for street hails.”
Although Minister Lui Tuck Yew added that commuters can still choose to indicate their destinations if they think this will increase their chances of getting a taxi even when they are not compelled to do so, taxi drivers are still unable to choose their customers based on destinations.

Do you think our taxi drivers will have lesser income avenue after this regulation by Minister Lui Tuck Yew?

Learn how to read. Before you start a thread you should read what it says first. It says that customers still have the option to indicate their destinations on their taxi booking apps if they feel it increases their chances of getting a cab. This new ruling only affects the cab drivers who previously could choose which customers they wanted or did not want to pick so if a customer says he wants to go to jurong for example and the taxi doesn't want to he can reject it but with the new ruling now he cannot also customers don't need to indicate their destinations

"fuck yoU" should take his MY PAPer & go , hail a taxi on the street & see for himself....he will find out that, 24 hours a day is "changing shift", certain time of the day...you can stand there & see "BUSY" sign taxis passing you, taxis that changed from Taxi to "BUSY" when they see you..

You tell me....I have not specified where I am going yet, for I have not got a taxi yet!....the taxi drivers already specify that, they do not want to PICK ME!. These "fuck yoU" like the rest of the PxP ministers are out of touch with the ground.

The regulation is to protect their business interest...in Kuntfort etc...

I dunno what cock Lui talking. All the bloody taxi companies booking hotline and apps sucks big time. Instead of improving those, they implement curbs. KNN.

They should first ask themselves why Grab taxi is doing so well and how they do it and not just find excuses to curb and curb.
