Opinions were largely divided when TOC posted the question on its Facebook page what they think of the incident.

“Regardless of the other opponents fight fair or not, personally I felt jeering is unsporting and not a respectable way of expressing our feelings. People can say all they want to degrade us, but we should not degrade ourselves,” wrote Joseph Goh.

Echoing a similar sentiment, Weiwen Loh wrote, “Booing is childish behaviour. Just like name-calling, insults, and baseless accusations. Let’s not turn our elections into a circus.”

I agree. Singapore has matured. Jeering your opponent is unsporting and childish. The gentleman way to do it is to sue them for defamation and bankrupt them.

It is already a circus, whatis turning it into one? ha ha ha....the audience will boo, if the jugglers drop their......& the elephant doesm't do the walk!

I think some booing and a little heckling is ok as long as you dont father/mother the guy or say things against him that you cant substantiate. How can lawsuits be better than some booing?

Anway it is always asked of the populace to mature but it works both ways. The candidates also have to mature and expect some of this kind of stuff when they canvass and solicit support.

Is it something like an orchestra, with one conductor & the audience quietly listening :)

If the conductor is clueless should the audience keep quiet, applaud or boo

Regardless of whether we dislike a candidate, booing is considered a form of bullying. Does anyone agree?

When public figures are booed in public - they are unpopular. Don't need more words to explain further.

Whether that is right or wrong, it doesn't matter; and what can anyone do about it? Is it against the law to boo?

It is a non-violent way of expression.

Cheers!

Times sure have changed.

It was more gentleman manner when it was one-to-one fist fight.

Suing is for cowards, letting their lawyers do the fighting.

Cheers!

Personally, booing is rather unbecoming. It will be better if people oppose through their votes.

how can booing be considered bullying. At most, i classify it as being rude. Bullying is when you use unfair advantage with aim of obtaining or achieving something.

TT definitely is not being bullied. He is being bullied if he is denied the right to give a speech (where the other candidates could). He is being bullied if he has to cough out 1m as deposit more than the other candidates.

I would only say, the booings are rude. thats all.

Nothing wrong with booing. It is not like people were throwing shoes at him. If he can't tahan people booing him, he is mentally weak and therefore unfit to run for the Presidency. Anyway, the bugger deserved to be booed. Obigood!

What childish behaviour.
See how PAP MPs behave against opposition MPs in parliament all these years.
In parliament they say it is "cut and thrust".
Outside kenna boo they want to cry father cry mother.

yes bro CS. In the ideal world this will be true. In the real world however, people express their displeasure in many different ways and booing is one.

As i had mentioned in my previous post, a little of it is benign and the guys should be able to take it in their stride.

How to be a strong leader otherwise?

I think Erection didn't catch Khun tongue-in-cheek.

Uncle Tony this is election please take it like Arnold, he kenna rotten eggs and make no fuss.

The orchestra keeps playing the same movement over & over again, they change conductor & the same movement is played over & over again..what do you expect the audience to do? ask for an encore!?

Arnie kenna rotten eggs because his mistress is uglier than his wife. :D

PAP politicians need to grow up. They need to have their hides stuck with spurs of reality. Booing, heckling on politician is part and parcel in a lot of countries around the world. If you can't handle a simple gesture of disagreement like this you should not be a politician at all.
