my uncle colledge today keep telling me walking down slope is more tedious than walking up slope.
i thought i heard wrongly,so i keep asking again and again to confirm.
He say he try it personally and there is NO doubt.
so being not convinced, i ask a few colledges.
of 4 more person i asked, 1 tell me it might be possible.
he cited an example: during down slope, one tend to be more attentive to avoid staggering down during upslope, one tend to be in more relax mode.

to be more presise, during up/down 'gentle" slope, the uncle will be carrying a can of not too heavy paint.he will be painting from point A to point Z. (but area will be slightly stuffy)

so using the theory of climbing down the stair is easiler than climbing up the stair,i am not convicned.

does any educated brothers here knows of some newton theroies or something which i might not had read before?
i keep my reserve before doing some homework

if youre fit and injury free, going down is a breeze. (breezer then going up)

but when youre injured in the legs, going down hill is a killer. hard to explain unless youve experienced it. strange but true

If you want to no knee problems in the future, Then walking/sprinting upwards is the way to go.

Your question is rather vague. How hard it is to walk down depends on how steep the slope is and the condition of the walking surface.

Depends mainly on what kind of slop... rocky, mountainous, muddy, steps, concrete slop?

Scientifically, going up slop is going to take to more work done as it takes more energy to lift your body weight. Technically, going down slop is more dangerous and requires more care and attention.

In summary, mentally, one will always think that down slop is more tedious once you've experience it but by scientific definition, it would be the other way around since science does not take into account one's mental state and competency.

This is like asking for two person of the same body mass, height and weight - one being a military trained while the other being a regular person who occasionally exercise, does it take the same effort for both of them to travel up a hill (or downhill)?

Can't offer theory.

More due to the kiasi nature of human. i.e. when you walk down slope, you fear you will buak toh, thus roll down the slope and langa into a foreign object thus killing you. As such, you will put in more resistance in your steps to make sure that the above mentioned scenerio will not happen. This will make walking down slope more taxing.

For walking up slope, already siong enough and want to die already, just want to complete the climb, cannot feel the stress.

Hope this helps. :D

upslope/downslope requires different sets of muscles.

You struggle uphill no doubt.....but you need muscles to control your downslope progress too especially if the gradient is quite steep.

Core muscles must be strong. If not do anything will also find it hard.

Doctor also said so.
Claim up is good for knee and down is not good.
I always stop lift 5/6 floor and walk 5/6 floor up for just to keep fit.
Now even 10 floor walk up staircase also sup sup sui.

walking down hill takes more effort to maintain balance, especially with a knee injury.
