MALAYSIA - Nearly 1,000 single Muslims in Pahang were caught for khalwat (close proximity), the leading syariah offence in the state this year.
Deputy head of the state Islamic and Malay Customs Council (MUIP) Datuk Seri Wan Wahid Wan Hassan said 948 khalwat cases were recorded between January and September this year.
The second leading syariah offence was gambling, with 677 cases, followed by eating and drinking during the fasting period with 62 cases recorded, reported Kosmo!.
