SINGAPORE: Calling social workers, therapists, special education teachers, counsellors and nurses. The National Council of Social Service (NCSS) is seeking mid-career professionals to join the social service sector.

NCSS said it is beefing up the sector's capability and expertise to meet rising social challenges and is looking for those with the relevant skills to fill up the 500 positions available.

It added that it is offering various schemes and scholarships which they can tap on.

Examples are the Bachelor of Social Work programme offered by the Social Service Training Institute (SSTI) and Monash University, as well as the VWO-Charities Capability Fund (VCF) Scholarship Grant for individuals who wish to pursue studies in social work.

Those looking for a mid-career switch can take up the Professional Conversion Programmes for nurses and therapists.

More information is available at this website.

The NCSS is also taking part in the Career 2009 and Education 2009 Fair running from March 5 to 8 at the Suntec International Convention & Exhibition Centre. - CNA/vm
