Foremost, you are equating polite and gentle with innocent and decent. That itself is a reckless presumption.

Secondly, innocent and decent are different. Being innocent means you are not acquainted with evils, just like a baby. You haven't been required to make a choice between good and evil using your free will. Being decent is one step further. You understand good and evil, and your values are aligned with good. That makes you decent.

You must ask yourself if you are looking for an innocent girl who could also be construed as a gong cheebye, or a decent girl whose values of life are commendable.

A decent girl may not always have that sweet or demure looking demeanor. It's not surprising because when a person gains knowledge and experience, her demeanor will reflect the self-discipline and wisdom that she has acquired. It's called 相由心生 in Chinese.
