We need our neighbors.

MSK was caught because of assistance from our neighbors. If they did not cooperate, MSK could have caused us big headaches. No idea what is happening but a big public thank you to Najib and Tun M from our top family would be a good start.

Even our economy (as much as we have been told) is reliant upon our neighbors. Think of the Indos buying up local prop and parking their billions in our banks, the raw materials trans-shipped, the weekend shopping trips, sand for construction, water for drinking. We keep talking about attracting MNC etc etc. But take a hard look and I would not be surprised if our neighbors account for more than 60 percent of our local economy (read that Indo own 40% of prime prop in Singapore). Yes, MNC might puff up our GDP numbers but much of it is just a number and little of that big number flows into our economy.

So it is pointless to play hardball/knuckle duster tactics with our neighbors since we need them more than they need us.

Personally, it would be better for our leaders to spend more time mending fences with our neighbors instead of trying to do deals with countries so far away.
