For crying out loud does Nair think he's the kind of medicine? That every little Singaporean wants to torture him? Do American doctors treat "prisoners" at Guantanamo Bay better than him

The difference lies in the system. In the USA, Guantanamo Bay can be challenged in the courts. Controversial treatments that breach human rights conventions can also heavily influence the ballot box. Every act carries a political price. That's how democracies work. Powers are abused regularly even in the most democratic of countries. However, wrongdoings cannot be swept under the carpet forever. The system self corrects as time goes by and there is ultimately a price to be paid.

In Singapore, the govt can pretty much do as it pleases and the victim has no recourse whatsoever. As for the ballot box, it's 66.6% no matter what. More than 50% of the country is beholden to the PAP in one way or another. It will stay that way for the foreseeable future.

The fact is racist Nair thinks his country is so democratic when such injustice occurs. And even before 9/11 and now, native American Indians have been intern in prison camps. How democratic is that? And let's not forget the democratic systems allowed Bush who did lose the 2000 election by vote count to enter office.

You are confusing "injustice" with "lack of democracy". There is a distinct difference between the two. A "just" system can exist in an absolute dictatorship provided the dictator is a fair and honest person while injustice can prevail at all levels of society within a perfectly democratic system as govt policies of the time simply reflect the will of the electorate which put them in office.

The Japs Americans were interned too. However, the same would never happen today. That's how democracies progress.. the govt has to be in sync with society and not the other way round as is the case in sinkiepoor.

The 2000 election was controversial because the ballot box did not have the required precision to separate two evenly matched candidates. There was no photo finish software to help the judges make a call.

However, the Americans had another chance to get rid of Bush in 2004 and he won that election fair and square.

America has one of the best systems on the world. The two term limit was a stroke of genius by the founding fathers. It makes sure that the US can never become a LEEapore. :D

Actually the Almighty has given us the best system ... survival of the most powerful and the fittest!
It's just guys like u being hypocritical that's all!
