Wounded witness: Police personnel questioning the fourth Myanmar man at the flat in Bandar Baru Air Itam where the crime took place Tuesday.
George Town OCPD Asst Comm Gan Kong Meng said residents informed the police that there were loud noises at their flat, which was located in the basement of the apartment block, at about 9.25am yesterday.
He said policemen who rushed to the scene found two bodies lying close to each other in the kitchen while another was found dead in a room with asthma medicine by his side.
“We believe the bodies were moved after they died. There were signs of strangulation,” he said. ACP Gan said police found a chopper and a small knife covered in blood at the scene.
“We will seek the help of the Myanmar Embassy in Kuala Lumpur to contact the victims’ next-of-kin,” he said, adding that no identification documents were found. It is learnt that the four men, who are in their 20s and 30s, did odd-jobs including maintenance work.
Gan urged those with information to contact ASP Khalil at 04-228 2222.
Residents said the three men, known only as Mintoo, Naga and Asan, had been staying there for almost 10 years. A resident said the room they occupied was originally meant for a gymnasium but was partitioned into two rooms and a kitchen.
