Myanmar slashed to death over salaries
KUALA TERENGGANU: A 35-year-old Myanmar national was slashed to death by his co-workers over salary payments. Terengganu CID chief Asst Comm K. Manoharan said the construction site supervisor was attacked at about 8.30pm in Kampung Pak Sabah in Dungun on Saturday.
“The victim’s nephew, aged 23, was seriously injured and a Myanmar woman suffered minor injuries,” he said. Police believe a machete and wooden sticks were used in the attack. “Four suspects went to the kongsi where the Myanmar national lived to discuss salary matters,” said ACP Manoharan.
“It developed into an argument and the victim was slashed on the head and hand. “The woman, who was visiting them at the time, was also attacked but managed to run out and seek help,” he added. When police arrived, they found the suspects missing, along with a dozen or so Myanmar workers at the construction site.
Police later managed to detain another Myanmar national in Dungun and two of his colleagues in Kampung Besut in Kemaman to assist in investigations. — Bernama
