Today woke up early because no gig last night. Jilin meimei still sleeping. She smells nice.
Received an email from an old friend
He said MAS policy of paying the wages for fresh grads joining banks and financial institutions has led to these employers taking advantage of the policy to get rid of older admin staff
This is only natural because the banks need to make money. If they hire the older worker, they pay the salary but if they hire fresh grad under the new initiative, MAS pays most of the salary
For those in professional positions, obviously they are not threatened because the fresh grads have no experience to handle the job responsibility but for those admin positions, they are replaced by fresh grads
My friend was just retrenched so maybe he is emotional but his argument is sound
He has no degree but after working 20 years for the bank and even survived the financial crisis he now is laid off because of what he thinks is the new policy
He doesn't the bank, the fresh grad but he gives the finger to the MAS
