Child marriage is sanctioned in Islam by Muhammad’s example. The rape doesn’t matter; any guilt the rapist thereby incurs is expiated by the marriage itself. And divorce of prepubescent girls is provided for in the Qur’an:

“And those who no longer expect menstruation among your women – if you doubt, then their period is three months, and those who have not menstruated. And for those who are pregnant, their term is until they give birth. And whoever fears Allah, he will make for him of his matter ease.” (65:4)

“UP: 10-year-old girl married off to rapist, given triple talaq,” IANS, August 23, 2020 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):

Muzaffarnagar: In a shocking incident, a ten-year-old girl was allegedly married to her rapist and then given Triple Talaq by him, police said on Sunday.

The incident came to light when a team from the child care helpline visited the girl for counselling at a village in Budhana police station area earlier this month.

According to the helpline in-charge, Punam Sharma, the victim alleged that she was ‘married’ to her sister’s brother-in-law on February 16 after a rape….

Muslims Are Still Nowhere by Maqbool Ahmed Siraj

OSTB : The following is written by the Indian writer Maqbool Ahmed Siraj. It is worth reading. Just like me, you may or may not agree with anything or everything that he says. It is up to you. I do have some comments in blue.
"Maqbool Ahmed Siraj is a journalist based in Bangalore, India. He holds a postgraduate degree in journalism from the University of Madras. He began his career from Indian Express, Chennai (then Madras) in 1978 and worked for various media organizations to end up at BBC World Service for which he worked from 1996 till 2014. He is a consulting editor for Islamic Voice, Bangalore and writes for The Hindu, South India’s most reputed English Daily."
Where do we stand today?
We the Muslims stand nowhere today when compared to the West. We are in total stagnation, in a state of paralysis and at a place from where there is no movement forward. But more painful is the fact that we do not realize that we are afflicted with paralysis. We are happy and even arrogantly confident about what we are doing. (Pls refer to my paper read at Aligarh Muslim University for Muslim situation.)

(OSTB : My view is many less advanced societies make a big mistake by using the magic word "West" as an euphemism for their own lack of progress and lack of advancement. The correct word should be 'modernisation'. Post Berlin Wall the world has discovered areas of the West (in eastern Europe) that are economically and socially more backward than even the Third World. Examples will be Belorussia - which still has a dictator, Rumania, Georgia and other former East bloc countries.
And now we have Asian countries which are more advanced (socially and economically) than sizeable parts of the West. Japan in particular stands out by a mile. South Korea, China, Hong Kong, Macao,Taiwan, Singapore are other Asian countries that have equalled or surpassed the West especially in economic growth, social welfare of their people (health, education, security, equal protection under the law).
But Japan, China, Hong Kong, Macao, South Korea etc have not "westernised". Instead they have modernised. The word we are looking for is modern. Not "west".)

Why are we there?
1- We have taken everything handed down from the past as sacrosanct, of Divine orientation and unchangeable.
2- We do not want to change. Change is frowned upon. Pro-changers are mortally afraid and status-quoists are honoured.
3- We have come to believe that we have a monopoly over all the truths.
4- Rote learning has come to replace our educational system.

(OSTB : The most innovative, creative and aggressively modernising and advancing economies in the world today - China, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, etc still use the "rote learning" system. The Indian education system that is also based on rote learning manufactures and exports CEOs of Fortune 500 Companies.)
5- We have mortgaged our own wisdom to the perceived sanctity of scriptures.
6- We take even the human interpretations of the Quran to be sacred.
7- We mix up the Quran and the Hadith, latter exegeses, explanations and follow laws that were formulated for people of the first and second (Hijrah) centuries and societies steeped in medievalism.
8- In our enthusiasm to Islamize, we Arabize the people.
9- We have paralyzed half the community i.e., the women, by exiling them from the arena of learning, debate, discussion, research etc.
10-We have given the exclusive right to explain the scriptures to a group of people who are unaware of the changes in the world and have no inkling of sociology, political ideas, law, economy etc.

(OSTB : In all societies the best and the brightest become the doctors and engineers. The second best become the administrators and the caretakers. Those who drop out become the criminals. Finally those who are the least intelligent become the religious teachers.
More importantly the greatest wealth, the highest standard of living, the best solution s to societies problems are provided by the doctors, engineers and administrators who depend on science, technology, logic, reasoning and common sense. The religious people do not depend on science, technology, logic, reasoning and common sense. That is why the religious people create so many problems in the real world. They are destined to fail.)
11-We are constantly told that this mortal world is not for us. We need to look for the welfare of the Hereafter.
(OSTB : It does not require any effort, it does not require any hardwork, it does not require ANY PROOF to promise people things that cannot be manifested in this real world. It is entirely faith. You must believe what they say - without any proof.)
12-The ones who tell us about the Aakhira have made the religion an avenue for earning the Duniya for themselves. Religious rituals have turned into commerce for them.
(OSTB : Sadly it has become 'no money no religion'. Money is materialism. Religion simply cannot exist without money. And there is a saying "money is the root of all evil".)
13-Digging the past rather than creatively interpreting it, has somehow been named ‘Research’ for us. It is a synonym for quoting from the past rather than critically examining it.
14-We also very foolishly believe that all that science exists in the world is a gift from Muslims. We forget that we borrowed a lot from the Greeks, Hindus, and Chinese. Similarly, we also believe that no civility existed prior to the Prophet, while the fact is that Greece had evolved democracy much before us. Plato’s ‘Republik’ had been written nearly a thousand years before the advent of the Prophet.
15-We excessively glorify the past and are dismissive about our follies, fallacies, myths, and hypes. Those who dare to challenge that, do it at the risk of their lives.

(OSTB : This means there is no such thing as religious scholarship. Because in the final analysis the religious people say that apostasy / heresy is punishable by death. This means any religious study or religious research that contradicts their orthodoxy can be deemed apostasy / heresy. Meaning it is punishable by death. So when you have the death penalty hanging over you as a punishment you cannot have objective, academic research. The only academic research that you will carry out is research that avoids the punishment by death. But the question is what type of academic research can you have whereby any academic or researcher who contradicts the orthodoxy can be punished with death?)
16-We have also developed the habit of not recognizing others’ virtues, contributions, and goodness. Those who dare to do that are branded apologists of the West, CIA agents, et al.
17-Notwithstanding the above two attitudes, we are still interested in going to the West and converting it to Islam. The fundamentalists amidst us go gaga over a few conversions to Islam in the US, Germany, the UK, and other white race settlements. But none of us is interested in going to Africa, pitching tents in Sudan, Somalia, Chad and Mali and relieving the humanity in misery there of their pain and uttering a word of sympathy.
18-We believe mere faith in One God, praise of Prophet would deliver the entire world off its worries.
19-We forget that diversity is designed by Allah himself and a community can excel only by being more pious i.e., having more integrity, transparency, accountability etc.
20-We take the Quran as a ‘Book of Law’ rather than a ‘Book of Guidance’. We search for legislation in its holy verses. We ignore the essence of its values which has taken humanity and even us in the earliest centuries after the demise of the Prophet, to heights.
21-We have reduced the Quran as a book for memorization and recitation while the Quran says: Afala yatadabburan al Qurana, am ala qulubin aqfaluha (why don’t you ponder over the Quran, are your hearts locked?). Our madrassas produce Hafiz and Qariis, but not the ones who can interpret it anew for the latest context. Quran never says Afala yuhafizoonal Qurana (why don’t you memorize the Quran?).
22-We have come to believe that all laws are forever while the fact is that the laws began to change from the time of Hazrath Umar himself.
23-We have limitlessly expanded the prohibitions under religion and restricted the permitted ones to a minimum. This has made our life miserable and research impossible.
24-Our least educated and totally misguided religious scholars have made us believe that laws and formulations of the 7th - 10th century are still good and applicable. So, even the thought of going against them or changing them is considered a sin by us.
25-We are constantly told that we need not learn from anybody while the fact is that we need to learn from everybody and from anywhere. Our current plight is only because we have refused to learn from others. The Prophet has described Knowledge as the lost heritage of the believer.
26-We believe that only Islam civilized the world. Fact is that several civilizations such as Egyptian, Mayan, Mesopotamian, Harappan, Roman, and Greek existed prior to Islam. Just as they declined, we too declined. The civilizational process is cyclical and all nations and civilizations emerge, reach their apogee and decline and end up.

My comments : From time to time we read Muslim writers writing such long lists of the failures of the Muslims. In 2005 (15 years ago) I included such a long list in on of my books. The fact that 15 years later such long lists of failures are still circulating means that the Muslims have not progressed. Looking at the Muslim world today things have gone from worse to beyond worse.
What can the Muslims do?
1. Ask for proof for anything that they say. The Quran says :
Haatu burhanukum inkuntum saadikin : Bring forward your proofs if you are truthful.
2. Ask them WHY?
Whatever answer they give again ask them WHY?
And whatever answer they give, again ask them again WHY?
And again and again, whatever answer they give keep asking them again WHY?
Keep asking them WHY until they cannot answer anymore.
If they cannot answer anymore it means they DO NOT HAVE ALL THE ANSWERS.
If they do not have all the answers then on what basis are they saying what they are saying.
Just remember these three letters W H Y.
These are the most powerful three letters to expose the falsehood of the people who speak falsehood.
Try it and see what happens.

The WHY question is indeed the most powerful question. Problem is questioning religious opinions (fatwa) and islamic views can also be construed as blasphemy in some muslim countries.

2:221 And do not marry the pagan women until they believe. And do not marry the underage girls. Believing women are better from the pagan women although they allure you. And do not marry the idol worshipers (men/women) (musyrikeen) until they believe - and the slaves (men/women) who believe are better from the idol worshipers - although they might allure you. It is they who call you to the Fire. And God calls you to the garden and forgiveness with His permission. And He explains His signs to them so that they can remember.
