Teen punched bus driver

A YOUTH who punched a bus driver and kicked the glass door panel of the vehicle was jailed for three weeks on Tuesday.
Adezan Norman, 19, a Malaysian, admitted to punching Mr Tamilarasu Nyanasagran, 27, in an SBS Transit bus along Tanjong Katong Road and mischief on March 15.
A magistrate's court heard that he was reeking of alcohol when he boarded the service No 197 at about 1pm that day.
A dispute arose when he asked Mr Tamilarasu to let him alight but the latter refused.
Adezan then punched the victim twice on his forehead.
After the driver had stopped to get help, Adezan kicked the glass door panel broken and fled.
The driver stopped a police patrol car.
Adezan was subsequently arrested.
The cost of repairs for the damaged glass panel of the door amounted to $272.
A third charge of disorderly behaviour was taken into consideration.
He could have been jailed for up to two years and/or fined up to $5,000 for causing hurt. For mischief, the maximum is one year and/or a fine.
